The „Border Cruiser." is a new mobile video installation that
I will present during Fountain Miami 07. The car has projected on to its
rear windows a video of a Brazilian who tells his ordeal to enter the
United States illegally. The project marks my first driveable video installation.
The car will be on exhibit during the day at Fountain for visitors to
walk around the car, watch and hear the videos play in the rear of the
vehicle, and engage in the work as much as they would like. Then at night,
the car will be driven around Miami and Miami Beach to the various openings
and events. In addition to the mobile video installation, I will also
be presenting a series of photographs of illegal immigrants in New York
City, Paris, Venice, and Rome who sell momentos to tourists visiting these
world famous destinations.
