Bipolart was founded in 2007 by Eric Laine as an independent art dealership. The aim of bipolart is to sell a range of work from artists who bridge gaps in the process of art making and sometimes even in the content of their work itself. Marc Grubstein's photographs best exemplify this tension ranging from compositional to grotesque ('grubtesque') and even performance based. Such a rite of passage in an aritst's quest for creativity, pulling from opposite extremes, is what makes a body of work have the depth bipolart is keen on promoting. Bipolart contends that highlighting disparate elements in diverse work side by side creates the potential for a dialectical tension to balance or isolate extreme antagonisms. Reactions of any kind to bipolart will lead viewers to a series of pieces from the artist of their choice while at the same time challenge predefined notions of what makes a singular art piece (or series) desirable or not, hence of any value or not.
