Like the Spice, a contemporary gallery in the burgeoning neighborhood of Williamsburg Brooklyn, shows recent art by emerging artists working within a contemporary and experimental context. Showing art made with digital media as well as traditional methods, our artists push their media: our paintings are fresh and our digital art is not just about the pixels.
Born in Poland, Anna Druzcz studied photography at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto before earning her MFA from the Rochester
University of Technology. There, using a combination of photographic and digital techniques she built her current visual methodology. Image
construction in a directorial mode and through digital composting constitute a significant component of her work.
Jason Bryant (b. 1976) grew up in rural North Carolina, earned his BFA from East Carolina University and his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Jason uses imagery from popular culture as source material for his photorealistic paintings.
Liz Brown earned her MFA from the Mount Royal Graduate Program at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2004. Liz’s work deals with grand themes distilled to a deadpan minimum.
Featured Artists: Anna Druzcz, Liz Brown, Ross Racine, Rachel Beach, Jason Bryant, and Chadwick Whitehead.
